I really enjoyed this book, well written. A perfect view of Anne and Elizabeth's relationship. Elizabeth played the long game and won for her mother.
*As Elizabeth grew up, she became distrustful, cautious, and full of fear, even if she showed the same outward courage as her mother Anne did. As a teenager she would become increasingly more neurotic and emotionally unstable. She would occasionally fall prey to panic attacks. Physically she would suffer from fainting fits, stomach upsets and amenorrhea. It was apparent that the sudden and brutal loss of her mother left a mark on Elizabeth.
*The relationship Elizabeth had with her half sister Mary was a complicated one. Mary did show her kindness. Mary invested a great deal of effort in her education. She showered Elizabeth with gifts, which was something that hadn't happened since her mother was alive. The only point of discord with her sister was their faith.
*Catherine Howard's marriage to King Henry had a positive effect on Elizabeth. Catherine asked Elizabeth to be placed opposite her at many banquets.
*When Elizabeth became queen, she passed two new acts that were passed in her first parliament. The second act is "an act whereby the Queen's highness is restored in blood to the late Queen Anne her Highness' mother" made Elizabeth the legal heir to her mother and all her Boleyn relatives. The second act restored the legal bond between mother and daughter and meant that Elizabeth was enabled in blood to inherit the property of Anne and all of her estates.
*Elizabeth's decision to remain the Virgin Queen had been inspired by her mother and it condemned her father's dynasty to extinction. Anne's bloodline would endure. Elizabeth II is a direct descendant of Anne Boleyn's sister Mary. Prince William is a descendant of Mary on both his father and his mother, Princess Diana, side.

Anne Boleyn & Elizabeth I is a non-fiction novel from Tracy Borman regarding the parallels between Anne Boleyn and her daughter, Queen Elizabeth I.
I was recommended this book from someone who I trust and I am really glad I picked this up! I have always enjoyed studying the Tudor time period and the Wars of the Roses. I thought this was such an interesting book to read because there was a lot of parallels between the two that I didn't realize.
It was fascinating to me the way that Elizabeth would honor her mother even long after her passing. Elizabeth only knew her mother up till she was 3 but was surrounded by others who knew her mother well and could tell her about her mother. It was fascinating to see how, even though Anne was absent more than she was in her life, she really loved her mother and cared to honor her.
Anne's story is so fascinating as well and the way she cleverly tried to bend the king and court to her will was so fascinating. I enjoyed learning how Elizabeth did a lot of the same techniques that Anne did but due to her position and her observances, she knew how to do them better. I loved seeing how Anne really cared for Elizabeth when she was alive even when Tudor aristocratic mothers didn't have a lot of contact with their children.
I would highly recommend picking up this book if you have any interested in the Tudor time period.

I LOVE a good historical book especially when it is on my niche interest of Anne Boleyn. I enjoyed how there were also photos later in the book. Overall gave a lot of insight into Anne and of course the relationship she could’ve had with her daughter
