Great dystopian short story about a totalitarian government (The Tyranny) and its attempts to suppress anyone (The Thinkers) who goes against its rule.
The story centers on a doctor in a mental facility who is approached by the Tyranny to find a Thinker among one of his new patients. The patient is also believed to be a time traveler.
The story moves at a smooth, steady clip and the suspense builds with chapter as the doctor progresses through his search.
The Theta Patient is set in the same world as [b:The Theta Timeline|23364634|The Theta Timeline|Chris Dietzel|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1413632640s/23364634.jpg|42924073] trilogy, which is now on my "Want To Read" list.

It's no surprise with the way things are going that there is in increase in fiction depicting a Big Brother-esque future. Literature reflects our fears and the issues that we are grappling with as a society. Chris Dietzel gives an interesting look at that future here by virtue of the setting. There are a few lines in it that make you think. However, I was hoping for something different at the end than what I received. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say it was a bit SSDD for me.
