The definition of a must-read.
Bardugo dives deep into the goth-steampunky aesthetic as she takes you along on a very unconventional triple date and the greatest fantasy heist to ever be pulled-off.

I absolutely fell in love with the characters. The backstories killed me a little. Please check content warnings.

Six of Crows is a novel by Leigh Bardugo that takes place in her Grishaverse. It begins about two years after the events of her Shadow and Bone trilogy, and while they aren’t required reading to enjoy this book, I think they’re a great addition to the overall world and your understanding of it.

Even though they’re a part of the same universe, don’t go into this book thinking you’ll get more of the same from Shadow and Bone. This is very much it’s own, unique story.

This story revolves around six very different characters. They’re part of the Dregs, a gang that resides in Ketterdam in an area called the Barrel. Kaz Brekker, a high ranking Dreg, gets a request to do an impossible task, but he’s just daring enough to try it. He gathers up a small crew to help fulfill the job.

Kaz is a really unique character. He’s clever and very tricky to get a feel for. He always has something up his sleeve that throws you for a loop. He’s secretive and has an aura of mystery that the other characters can’t seem to figure out. No one knows anything about Kaz that he doesn’t want them to know.

Inej was really cool too. I loved her style when it came to her talents. She was also very determined throughout the book.

Jesper and Wylan were an interesting pair to read about. Their bickering had me smiling as I read on.

Nina and Matthias were also intriguing to read about. Their relationship is a unique one to say the least. Matthias did get on my nerves once in a while, but I also knew that he had his reasons.

I felt like this book was a little slow in the beginning. As I was reading, I was worried I wouldn’t like it like I liked the Shadow and Bone books. I knew this was a fan favorite, but I felt like I might be an outlier with it. Thankfully, I was proven wrong! As I read on, I grew to love all the characters, their backstories, and their unique talents. Each one had their own personalities and brought something different to the story. In the end, this book became my favorite so far out of everything by Leigh Bardugo that I’ve read. I can’t wait to start reading Crooked Kingdom!!

One of the best books I’ve read, really fast paced, there’s a lot of diversity among the characters, both physical and in the backgrounds of each character. It has really an amazing plot, and it keeps you constantly wanting to know more
