Written in 1895, A Wife Manufactured to Order is one of the early portrayals of artificial "intelligence", as our main character stumbles upon a shop manufacturing perfect wives of wax, specifically designed for their husband. I really like how it's written by a woman but told from a man's (stereotypical) perspective, and how the main character comes to realise his mistakes. Unfortunately Fuller ended the story in a forgiving and pleasing manner, when an 'unhappy' ending would have (in my opinion) been way more impactful and driven the moral of the story home. The ending renders the moral of the story borderline useless.
