Manga Shakespeare: Much Ado about Nothing by William Shakespeare, Emma Vieceli, Richard Appignanesi

I think this is a brilliant way for teens to be introduced to Shakespeare. Shakespeare's plays were of course meant to be a visual experience. I'm far from a magna expert, so I can't really comment on the quality of the artwork, but the illustrations really make understanding the language easy - and the language wasn't modernized, so you still get to experience the beautiful words. I just wish it didn't have to be abridged quite as much as it was.

I love Shakespeare and I love comic books. So when I saw this I thought I was onto a win. And I was, they go together like Peanut Butter and jam! I will definitely be getting the rest of the collection.

My favorite Shakespeare play and my first Manga! I really enjoyed it and seeing their take on it. I liked the contemporary combined with ancient Greece. Full review to come!

I liked how they included the manga art style into this classic story

A solid enough introduction to Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream though I didn't like the way the adaptor abridged what, to me, is the best part of the play—the Mechanicals' performance of Pyramus and Thisbe.

I wasn't too sure what to expect with this. From my experience, manga doesn't have much dialogue, and as we all know, Shakespeare is ONLY dialogue. So it was a pleasant surprise when I peeled back the cover to see that the original words were in tact; the setting had changed in an interesting way to include both the original setting and the technological world of today. Although many of the words and speeches have been cut away, the manga expresses the story in a way I found hard to put down. It's a brilliant idea, to get people into Shakespeare; it also makes it much easier to understand what's happening, when some pieces become unclear. This is my favourite play, so I'm pleased to see it drawn so well. Now, if only it had been longer!

Much Ado is my favorite shakespeare play — so hilarious! And to “see” the characters rather than just read through dialogue was a very nice touch. Good art style.
I will say that the beginning was a little muddied together for me, but once I got into the story it was fine.
