Fun and quick old-timey adventure. Although technically dated in ways, the world of Mars and its possible "inhabitants" is creative and exciting. That's when it really kicks in.

This book did not hold up for me. I very, very seldom abandon books, but I couldn't get through this one. I found the wife character to be almost vehemently offensive - I know it's from a different time but I just couldn't deal with it, or the wildly crazy technological misunderstandings.

Very enjoyable, as all Wyndhams. Touches on AI, life, death, meaning, religion, etc. Clever. Perhaps not as satisfying as some of his others.

Written in the 1930's, sitting somewhere between HG Wells and Arthur C. Clarke in style and content.  A millionaire planning a manned mission to Mars, imagine such a crazy thing!  Oh yeah... Musk

Interesting themes (relationship between humankind and technological progress and the effect of humankind on the environment) and engaging writing style, as usual for Wyndham. However the execution fell a bit short, and while the sexiest attitude of the characters is certainly characteristic of the time when the book was written, it is nonetheless uncomfortable to read and fails to contribute to the story in a meaningful way.

Loved this one. Binging on all the Wyndham on audio and I had never heard of this one before.

I think I've read all the good Wyndhams.
