I really liked this one. I’m always a Sedaris fan but these essays felt a bit more relatable. I love the stories about his family and this book was filled with them. One of my favorite books this year. He always has a way of making me laugh when I read his little observations. This is Sedaris at his best.

There was not a story in this book that wasn’t simultaneously gut-wrenching and laugh out loud hilarious—and that’s quite a feat.
For some reason I expected this book to be funny. Maybe someone wrote that in a review? Maybe someone said this author wrote humorous books? I don't know why I had that expectation when I started this book.
I was disappointed in this book because it wasn't particularly funny. If someone had told me it was a collection of stories from the author's life, I probably would have skipped it because autobiographies are not my cup of tea.
If you like autobiographies, you will enjoy this book much more than I did.

My first audiobook experience, and it was really a great one! I very much enjoyed listening to the author read his own stories, and it really made them come alive for me much moreso than reading them on the page; made them funnier and more relatable. I especially liked the live readings, which made me feel like I was in the audience at a comedy show.
These stories were extremely funny in some parts, but also rather sad and dark in others which was not always what I was looking for. However, that made this collection very real and raw, and also very compelling. And as I said, I think my favorite part was actually listening to Sedaris narrate his own life's experiences.
