Calypso had some fun stories with Sedaris sharing about getting together with his family at a summer beach house.
Feels like I'm reading an old man rambling on and on with his unfunny jokes. Most of the story fell flat and just tasteless.

3.5 -- Mein erster Sedaris. Kein schlechter Anfang. Ich hatte nicht vor, von dem Autor was zu lesen und hab eher spontan dazu gegriffen, nachdem ich das Buch in zwei Instastories sah. In den autobiografischen Stories liegen traurig stimmende Momente, düstere Komik und absurde Gedankenspiele nah beieinander und dieser Kontrast macht sein eigentlich schlichtes Schreiben erst interessant. Sedaris scheint eher außerhalb der Normen zu denken und das mag ich. Er ist ein sehr guter Beobachter und Wachrüttler, legt direkt den Finger in die Wunde des Banalen. Unverblümt, entlarvend und manchmal durchaus grotesk - eine Taktik, die bei mir nicht unbedingt in einem Lachkrampf mündet, aber doch oft zum Nachdenken anregt.

Sedaris is as funny as always. Most of the chapters are fairly standalone, so it's easy to dip into and pick one without feeling too much commitment to the whole text.

Such a boring book… I don’t have much more to say honestly. I learned nothing and won’t get anything away from this book.
Perhaps the only thing I learned was to NEVER ever read another memoir again. (If it’s not by a famous person that I find interesting 🙄)
