Always choose to listen to books where the author reads, if given the chance. it's clear that some of the chapters in Calypso were even recorded at live readings. Poignant, moving and as always, hilarious.

This is not really a memoir. It is mostly David Sedaris's observations across time. Some of the stories are funny but most aren't, at least not as much as I expected. What I like about this book though is that at some moments, (while describing his mom and his sister Tiffany), where I could sense honestly and some sadness underneath. The stories are intimate and there is some dark humour strewn about. There were some stories though that were just gross. This book to me is a bit of a let down in comparison to his other books.
