I’ve taken a while to write this review because I don’t know if I can write with with seriousness. I mean what the hell even was this book
3 stars. Pretty good. Not 100% my thing but it was more than decent.
I didn’t like that I couldn’t feel the love. There was no love here. Nothing. I don’t understand why titan liked Jules so much and I don’t understand why Jules liked him so much. Sex is one thing, love is another. Sex doesn’t equal love. This relationship felt too transactional to be authentic. It almost made me sad, feeling like they were just using each other, think about what could’ve been.
I just couldn’t understand how they loved each other, especially with how titan started their relationship. It seems he only wanted sex, but he didn’t seem to love her, so why switch as the book progresses? His loneliness should’ve been emphasized more before they met. He didn’t seem lonely and wanting love, only horny. I understand you can fall in love with your fwb or your sugar daddy or whatever but it just wasn’t expressed properly. I guess I just didn’t get it.
The spicy bits were fun but honestly I didn’t love titan or Jules. They both felt too superficial for me. I don’t think either of them were grounded. Maybe it’s cuz I’m poor, I dunno lol. I couldn’t believe their love cuz he seemed to love her only for sex and she seemed to love him only for his money. That’s not a great relationship in my opinion. I get it works for some people, but it’s not romantic in my eyes. When I read romance, I want to be jealous of what the characters have, or be giggling and giddy, or something like that. I want the relationship to feel cute, and this one just didn’t (for me).
So, failed on the romance, nice on the spicy parts. The little thief nickname made me swoon. Extra star cuz I like dominant monsters and I don’t see that enough. I think if you changed the personalities of both main characters, this could’ve been a home run for me. Sucks to think what could’ve been.
The side characters were cool, I suppose. Maybe I’ll read the others if they’re less centered around transaction and more around love. It’s not that it was centered around a money/sex transaction, it was that it was poorly executed. No matter, it was enjoyable enough. I had fun, but not too much. I just didn’t click with this one. Maybe you will, but I didn’t. It also wasn’t abhorrently written and was intriguing enough, so it’s not like it was terrible. Far from it. I think it just wasn’t for me.
