i try to be very intentional in asking myself, “do i hate this character or is this just internalised misogyny?” i can honestly say that i just hate jules.

was it entertaining?
great tropes. beautiful tropes. romance writers almost always do sex workers so dirty, particularly women, but i loved this. there’s no slogging through moral browbeating, there’s no effort to glamourise the job, it’s just a way to pay bills — as it should be. no ugly white knight, saviour, “i can take you away from all this” bullshit. i also love a MMC that can’t get anyone pregnant and a FMC that has no interest in children. beautiful. 5/5

was it enjoyable?
meh. i think i enjoyed the background story more than the romance. i want to know absolutely everything about the strange and their various cultures. i want more of the history behind the keystone and the relic room and i absolutely need to know what maximus’ problem is.

that being said, i hated jules. she’s annoying beyond anything i’m prepared to handle. i think it’s a blind spot of the author but making a sex worker a kleptomaniac is…just bad form. one, it’s a nasty stereotype and two, it’s absolutely ridiculous for someone working in a criminalised profession to risk their life by stealing from a virtual stranger with the money to make their life hell. and it happens repeatedly — like a compulsion. i get that she’s supposed to be hyper focused on getting money but what an insufferable trait.

i despise a third act breakup at the best of times but this one was so… she’s mad, not because he lied to her but because he hurt her pride? enough. i skimmed through most of the last 60 pages because it was ridiculous. 1/5

was it well-written?
it was mostly fine but there were more than a couple of spots where it switched from informal contractions to oddly formal and stilted dialogue. it’s jarring. 4/5

overall, i think i’ll read the next one but god i hated her so much. 3.3/5 stars

I received this book as an ARC review and this book did not disappoint it is such a cute and cozy monster romance with fantastic smut thrown in! The daddy dom aspect was so accurate and just warmed my heart that the author worked so hard to make sure everything was interesting and accurate this made it so much easier to fall in love with titan and Juliana the two main characters. Juliana had to take on to much at such a young age and found herself in some trouble when her means to an end turned into something she wasn’t expecting. Absolutely well written and fun this will forever be a recommendation I give for monster romance and one of my go to comfort reads!

Downloaded this on a whim, and it was fun. A super, quick and easy, low stakes read with a daddy gargoyle and a former actress turned sugar baby.

DNF'ed at 74%.

I was really excited for a DD/lg monster romance, but the entire relationship felt incredibly forced and inauthentic. I tried to push through to see if the plot would make it easier but that was even worse, it felt rushed and clunky. It truly feels like the author just wanted to jump the gargoyle/monster smut bandwagon and everything else was an afterthought.

I enjoyed Titan’s story so much.  This had a great plot, and excellent heat.   Looking forward to the next in this series!
