No spoilers if you have read all four books before this one.
Notes:
This book is the fifth book in the will Trent series, and I genuinely could not set it down and completed it at 4 AM on a Monday morning, throwing off my whole week and yes, it was worth it. The writing is always good with slaughter, in this book was, of course, no exception to that rule.
Review:
THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENTS!!!! Are everything in this book. I just love Dr. Linton, and all that she adds to the series when it comes to inner dialogue and interactions. I always enjoy when the book switches to her POV I will say Faith slightly bothered me in this book, and I am really looking forward to more growth in her character now that she is a mother, and also, to be fair to her she was going through a lot of stress in this book. I liked the change of pace with this crime, slaughter continues to do a great job of not making this series feel repetitive. I ate up all of the drama, gunfights, sarcasm, all that was present, especially featuring Ms Amanda Wagner. I really enjoyed getting to know her character more, as she spent more time on the pages then in the previous four books. Do I even need to mention Will? We already know I’m obsessed and he can do no wrong, which is technically not true, because he does a lot wrong, but it’s really endearing, and it makes me fall in love with him more.
Final Takeaway:
I look forward to the next book, and I’m hoping for a case with more gore and more mystery/guesswork that has more to do with the actual crime happening, and not necessarily character’s drama. Think more along the lines of the first books crime, and that mystery. Either way, this was a great book and I had a great time.
