Fallen

Karin Slaughter

4.1 AVERAGE

Faith's world is turned upside-down when her mother is abducted.
To get her back, they need to know who and why. Faith, Will, Amanda, and Sara work together to unravel the puzzle.
Didtractions challenge everyone, Angie is back again, but Will is falling for Sara. Faith needs to be able to keep her diabetes under control, and deal with her asshole brother. Amanda is focused only on finding her best friend, ignoring other theories about the abduction. Sara is confronted by Angie. All of them face life or death situations in order to discover more information to help rescue Evelyn.

I love the writing, the layered mystery, and the complex characters.

The book opens with Faith, Will’s partner coming home late from work to pick up her baby from her mom only to find blood, chaos and her baby locked safely in the garage by the house. As is Karin Slaughter’s style, the action only continues throughout the book. There are higher and lower points of action, but it’s never far away. I’ve read some of her Will Trent series out of order.

Average read. Not the most gripping of thrillers, but not boring. Will, Sara, Faith, Evelyn, Amanda. Sometimes a bit convoluted to follow the subtext between characters, especially Will and Amanda. Probably would have liked this more if I'd read it in one sitting.
