2.5 stars. The Perfect Lie starts with a bang with the death of Erin's husband right in front of her. Soon, she finds out that he has secrets and he's not the man she thought he was. I really enjoyed the writing and I thought the double timeline creates suspense at first.
However, I found the blurb and synopsis quite misleading. I was not a fan of the misdirection as I was looking forward to finding out about Erin's husband and why she is charged with his murder despite the evidence that suggests otherwise. I also thought Erin is incredibly naive as a protagonist and it was hard to root for her. The book's portrayal of sexual assault victims is heartbreaking but I wish the storyline is treated more seriously because it got really over the top at the end. When the villain seems to know everything without a plausible explanation, it was hard to be convinced by the story. This just missed the mark for me.
CW: sexual assault, rape, domestic violence, suicide
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a review copy.

I REALLY enjoyed this book!
No-one could ever accuse this book of being slow to get in to. The first 2 chapters are action packed and set the scene well. The book flits between two time periods and both were equally enjoyable and gripping to read.
There were so many twists and turns in this book and I just didn't want to put it down. The characters were well formed and likable, even the sideline ones.
Thoroughly enjoyable and I would highly recommend.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review.

I loved this!
I did find it a bit slow to begin with, but once I got into it I couldn’t put it down.
There were so many twists and turns that you’d sit there thinking you knew what was going on, to be completely blindsided, which is something I need in a thriller.
I strongly recommend.

Hang onto your hat - this is a hell of a ride! Right from the start I was completely hooked. At first it was hard to follow the timeline and the split story lines - but it came together perfectly. Some of it I figured out well before the reveal but there were plenty of surprises. Recommended.

The first two chapters were so wild, I was hooked immediately. Unfortunately, the plot slowed down a lot from there and we had to unravel the mystery in those first two chapter in the next 350 pages. Even though the book was good, the pacing felt slow and the storylines only joined quite late in the book (and at that point I had connected the dots). I enjoyed it, but it was not my favorite thriller.

This was great! I wanted something light to read alongside my chunky science fiction book- what’s lighter than murder?!
