I wanted to love this book, but I couldn't. The principles are fantastic but the delivery is painful. If Gerber would drop the fake dialogue and get to the point, the book would be 1/4 the length and 3x's more useful.

I’ve have a dream of having my own business and found The E Myth (Why small businesses don’t work and what to do about it) very interesting. I don’t subscribe with the phycology that Gerber gets into in the 2nd half of the book - the purpose of life is personal pleasure, but do agree that for too many small business owners their business is their life (not good). My dream is still alive, but better informed and while reading this book I gained an appreciation for my employer. I would recommend this book for anyone thinking of starting a small business to better understand why you need to be an entrepreneur, manager and technician, how important a business plan is and why being like Mcdonalds could be a good thing.

This was a surprisingly good book about business. It reeked a little bit of that A word [a:Timothy Ferriss|210456|Timothy Ferriss|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1400530891p2/210456.jpg], I think that was how I heard of this book. But this book read like a novel. The writing was so flowery and rich, especially between Michael and Sarah (not sure if she was real or fictional) that I thought there was going to be a Love Affair at the end.

A bit outdated, but the principles remain largely intact. Very inspiring.

Felt like a great book geared towards small business owner. I work for a private equity company and am employee #30. Didn't feel like it was totally applicable.

One of my favorite books. The study of processi in companies is fascinating. Some parts of the book are a bit lengthy though.

Lots of great information and insight into small businesses which can be applied to other projects or aspects of our life. The author uses a story-like example that runs throughout the book which is helpful in understanding the concepts of the book, but becomes very wordy in the second half of the book and makes things drag. Good book, but could have been a little more concise.

REALLY enjoyed this book, especially the distribution between the entrepenur, technician, and manager mindset and the idea that a small business owner should treat their business like a franchise.
