Madi's sister dies leaving Becka for Madi to raise. Without a job, Madi struggles to provide for them. Afraid Becka's dad might swoop in and take her away, Madi preemptively sets up an appointment with the man she believes is Becka's dad. Beckett is set to take over the family company, but his father adds a stipulation. He must produce an heir before he's given the reins. When he meets Becka, everything changes.

I loved this book so much. The way Beckett prioritized Madi and Becka made my heart melt. I love Madi's dedication to Becka even though she's not her biological child. Again, Emma tackles real-world hardships in a way that gives us hope! This book has Christian themes.

Content Warning:
-Death of a mother leaving her child behind
-Car accident
-Deception from a lawyer
*This is a clean contemporary read.

I was curious about how this series would wrap after getting to meet the male protag and the very end of the previous book. I thought that this addressed a lot of the nuance of a power differential in a benefactor/recipient dynamic and handled the relief, yet caution in a really necessary way. Overall, really loved the thawing of this main character in this eventual HAE ending.

Good

A story with enough ups and downs to keep you interested, as you wait to find out whether these two characters will grow past their past (and tendencies) to commit yo each other and make a 'family' in the end. Loved the faith aspects, clear and real enough to be impacting. A good read.

So, so good. I did not want to put this one down, and I did not want it to end, either. Not many sweet romances make me cry, but this one did in all the best ways. Ms St Clair has a way of taking a story that could very well become cheesy or cliched, and turning it into something relatable and unique.
