zahra is my age and she already has her dream career and met her billionaire soulmate.

i need to get out of my house more often, i guess…
This book was so well-written. I was IN LOVE with the way that Asher included characters with disabilities. You don’t see that often! It made my heart bloom! And a WOC as the main character? I’m locked in!
I will admit that I was a bit annoyed by Rowan constantly lusting after Zahra for the small things she did (you’re getting a boner from a smile dude!), and Zahra seeming to almost always be in La La Land, but it still seemed realistic to a certain degree. The characteristics both Rowan and Zahra had weren’t overdone, dramatized, or fictional. However, feelings exploded between the two very early in the book and it really puzzled me. Like that little power struggle argument they had suddenly turned into them having a make out session? Huh?? It was very jarring in a way but I went with it.
Also, I do feel like Zahra was too trusting at times, especially when it came to her talking to “Scott”. She gave him her logins when she barely knew him AND felt “empty” when he didn’t respond to her text! At that point in time they had been texting for the past several days! Neither incident seemed realistic to me honestly. In those moments she seemed to think more like a reckless teen than a 23 year old woman. Overall, the journey I took reading this book was pretty great and smooth! There were moments I laughed, pouted, and gripped my chest to ground myself from either the spice or sadness.
I’m very pleased with the overall pace of the book and the various characters that were created for the storyline. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series!
