I liked this maybe more than I should have. The narrative was a bit all over the place at times, but I liked the characters and thought they behaved as reasonable adults for the most part. In addition, their traumatic secrets were truly traumatic, and it made sense - especially at that time - that they would hold on to those secrets and let them fester. I also liked that Ethan was not a rake. I have nothing against a good old fashioned historical romance rake, but the man he was seemed very true to what he’d experienced.
