One of - if not THE - best of the Bridgerton series, this is a bit darker in tone than most of the others.

I listened to the audiobook version, narrated by Simon Prebble, who does an absolutely wonderful job. I don't have time to write a full review at the moment, but perhaps one day...

The best thing about this one was the premise: the emotional obstacles between the two lovers felt meaningful rather than contrived or merely absurd. Sadly, the contrivances turned up in the ways the aforementioned obstacles were resolved: the genre conventions did not end up doing this story many favors. Oh well.

2.5 ⭐️

read the book to learn about and secure my micheal and francesa endgame in the bridgerton series. looking forward to their season. the first spice was very blush worthy. I hope they change a lot of things because that last 20% aggressive micheal was not it and some dialogues, inner monologue gave me the ick.

I enjoy the show much better.
