Possibly the best Bridgerton yet- much more realistic character development, although there was a missed opportunity for Francesca to think/communicate better that would have given her more depth. Read less like a romance novel to me, which I appreciated.

i have a lot to say about this one. there were many disorienting mid-scene shifts in perspective. additionally the timeline is quite disorienting having already read colin and eloise’s books because at the beginning of this one they both are unmarried. i hope julia quinn has since gotten a better copy editor as there were many easily fixable grammatical errors throughout. now here’s the meat of it: i feel like every single bridgerton book has some sort of mmc-beats-someone-up-to-defend-her-honor situation and it’s all good and well but twice before we’re halfway through is a LOT and it’s getting old. also, i don’t think im actually a fan of the way julia quinn writes smut. going straight from declined marriage proposal to sucking tiddies is CRAZYYYYY. and lowkey where is the affirmative consent… i said Ouh! hated that phrase! at LEAST ten times. also, i think i started to hate michael about two-thirds of the way through. i came back around at the end but i was not pleased with him which is a shame because i adore francesca. if this were the first book in the series i probably wouldn’t read the others. alas it’s the SIXTH so i will be rounding out my bridgerton binge (bridgerbinge? bingerton?) thank you very much.

LIKE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!
after getting thru the atrocity the 5th book is this was SO GOOD.
michael is literally a sweetheart and mainly a decent human being (compared to phillip 🥱)
and francesca is also acting smart and mainly i absolutely adore her character in the books. she’s still different from her family but she’s smart, kind, knows what she wants and needs, witty. just a great character.
she climbed up as my no. 1 bridgerton girl when it comes to books.
and their story is heartbreaking, the loss of john is reminiscing throughout the whole book and its truly beautiful.
unpopular opinion incoming:
i HATE that they genderswapped michael when eloise and her shitty book is RIGHT THERE, like if frannie had a shitty love story sure go for it but the infertility, the wickedness idk man i think they should’ve kept michael as michael.
