Hm hm hm. I'm having a hard time finding where I land with this book. My major issue are the weird jumps between scenes and the development of the characters. Towards the end of the book, for no real reason, Henry wants to kill the Tulpa (i.e. Skyler) and Madi does everything she can to stop him. I don't quite understand Henry's motivation here, especially because not a couple minutes before, he's explaining that Skyler is theirs, that they brought him into being through their thought, time, and energy. I sorta understand Madi's intention, but it doesn't feel very strong. The horror/gothic elements were well done imo (creepy kid, the omnipresent river, Madi as a psychic/having visions of Grace and Skyler). But I found myself feeling confused with the weird time skips and the character motivation flip-flop.
