The bittersweet feeling of "die for nothing" type of story. The beasts of war in the mind of men can't be stopped. This is a long soliloquy of a young soldier thinking about quiting of a russian army in some provincial distant city ,"away" of "Civility " or good manners and their stricts ways ,rules, vices and cruelties.
A book for our times.
