This was not bad. If I hadn't been in the mood for it, it probably would've been worse.

All romance books require suspension of disbelief. This one more so than others. It really didn’t need the “childhood abduction but rejoins the family 20 years later totally fine” storyline… but the title made me giggle.
(un)HOLY HOCKEY HUSBAND
I’ve said this once and unfortunately find myself saying it again: I CANNOT BELIEVE I LET THIS BOOK SIT ON MY SHELF FOR MONTHS. MONTHS!!!! 4.5/5; 10/10

I was looking forward to reading this because the premise seemed really interesting - a woman finds out she was kidnapped as a young child and unravels a mystery to find her bio family and first crush, naturally falling right back in love. Unfortunately, the execution of that premise is complete trash.
The most troubling and frustrating part is how the characters talk about other women. They are literally referred to as “pieces of pussy” throughout the book, most often by the MMC. I’m sorry but if that’s how you refer to women, I want no part of you. Just disgusting. What’s more, all of his terrible behaviour is excused instantly while the FMC is blamed for every stray step. At one point, hetakes a former hookup - who the FMC knew about - to a charity event as his date to make the FMC jealous after the third act breakup. Not only does he only superficially make reference to this being a stupid fucking thing to do, no mention of petty or immature or cruel, he has the nerve to blame the subsequent issues he causes ON THE WOMAN HE INVITED!!! She’s here because you asked her, you POS! Truly a sleaze ball, truly the fucking worst.
There were so many little cringe or eye roll moments I couldn’t keep track or have space to list them all here. The weird semi-dom/sub sexual relationship was just weird and felt totally off, it did not fit the story at all. The FMC is all down with breathe play but had somehow has never seen a butt plug or something and thought it was all taboo and thinks it’s weird she likes it, literally says she should be disgusted… girl, what??
I am not someone who continues books that suck but I did keep going with this one, first because it’s like a car crash you can’t help but look at and second because it was an audiobook and I could just have it going in the background. The audiobook is fine mostly, but the diary entries from the mother are narrated so wildly and ridiculously they’re inadvertently hilarious. The narrator is spitting out and sneering the entire entry. Like, girl, you’re reading the entry date and talking about going on vacation, relax.
My advice is to avoid it unless you like to hate read or cringe so bad your eyesight goes hazy.
