Strong character development: Yes

This book was good and also a little disappointing. The story line about the abduction certainly kept my interest, and I liked the journal entries through the book. Especially the report about the accident when you find out how Julianne died. The smut was good, and I liked Birdie's growth.

I really disliked the third act break up. I completely side with Birdie on this. Lonan should have talked to her, not her family.

Before We Came, book 1 of the series Lakes Hockey by Sloane St. James @sloanestjames. An IG book friend recommended this series & I immediately downloaded it! Sloane is a new to me author. At times, it seemed hard to get into & at other times I devoured it. This was probably me as I had a project I was dealing with.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book about Birdie & Lonan! Wow! Some of these tropes! 😳 MF, kidnapped as a child, hockey, brother’s best friend/sister, light praise k!nk, hockey, 3rd act break up (boo!) & make her jealous which backfires.
