All of the sudden, I've got a hankering to read all my old favorites.
It feels good. It feels right. It feels like reminiscing with an old friend.
It's like the night before Christmas when the lights from the tree are all soft and inviting and you're wrapped up in a nice comfy blanket and the world slows for just the briefest of moments and life is good.
This book has always been one of my all time favorites. It's all the reasons I fell in love with reading and longed to become a story teller myself.
Thank you Ms. Spencer for giving us beautiful, simple, heartwarming stories about everyday people dealing with tragedy and triumph. It reminds us all that pain and heartache only make love and joy that much sweeter.

and it never disappoints.

Meh. Fairly predictable, not much unique about this "love story in the pioneer days of America".
beautiful writing style. cute heroine. the hero was a grump and i genuinely couldn’t see what the heroine saw in him. his only plus point was his vv adorable family. ngl, i liked his brother & son way more than him. aLSO i have no clue why the author killed off so many of them towards the end
This was a charming story. The first 100 pages were delightful about a teacher in the early 1900s and the family she lives in, North Dakota. Once I realized what the title meant, it became apparent that the entire 400-plus pages just covered a year. I must admit I skimmed the last 100 pages. It became too slow.
Amazing. The way the romance so seamlessly weaved in with both the harsh setting and the historical time period was beautiful. Also the TENSION with the age-gap between Teddy and Linnea.. *chef’s kiss*

"You have a fixation with time--clocks, years. What do they matter when there's love?"
This book was gifted to me by one of most beloved book friends. I was somewhat hesitant to read a story set in the early 1900s farming community, featuring an age gap, but I couldn't overlook the unwavering recommendations to read this book.
I was hooked from the first chapter and thus began my love affair with one of the most well written romances I've read in recent memory. Spencer doesn't write a book, the pages come life and I FELT every moment with Linnea and Teddy. This is not just a slow burning, forbidden romance. It's a heart warming story of family, community, and coming of age. I giggled, fumed, cried, and bawled heaving sobs. I can never convey in a review what a moving experience this book was. The word is thrown around too much, but this story is truly "epic."
"But don't you see its more important to count happiness? Why, even in twenty years we could have more happiness than some people have in fifty."
I recommend this book everyone. I don't know how to go back to reading everyday romance after this.

Wasn't in the mood to continue this type of book.
