Very slow, interesting story, good details. But slower than expected for an avatar story. Would still recommend if you’re a fan of the shows but it felt more like 1 long highly detailed episode. Not sure if I’ll continue the series.

While I definitely think the Kyoshi novels are stronger, this is such an interesting take on an avatar.
While we see Kyoshi as a powerful warrior in her adventures, resorting to some unsettling levels of violence at times, it feels almost justified. However, we’re seeing Yangchen as a ruthless politician, even if she’s technically not a politician. It’s a totally different light to be putting not only an avatar but an airbender in. A very interesting concept
