A whopper colossal of a story. Explores the human condition well, generational curses, and becomes more and more relevant with age.

Such a romantic book. Oh, Meggie in her "ashes of roses" dress. Forbidden love. Illegitimate babies. "She was mine first". All that. I liked the miniseries as much as the book, too.

Un roman à lire si on souhaite mettre son nez dans des dramas familiaux pendant plus d'un demi siècle, avec une écriture simple mais quelques passages assez plats, qui rendent la lecture un peu longue.

If you, like me, really hate creepy priests then this is not the book for you.

My mom loves this book. Everyone in my family loves this book and/or the miniseries. I am frequently treated to very disturbing dramatic reenactments involving said creepy priest.

Anyway, this book makes me sad and angry and I forced myself to finish it just so I could justify my hatred of it but it was a struggle.

This was good but an absolute beast to get through. Once you accept that the story is not leading up to anything specific, but is mostly a family drama spanning a few decades, it became easier to enjoy. It took some dark turns but that’s just life. This could’ve been a biography it was so fleshed out and well written.

We haaaaate bitches named Ralph!
