Poignant reflection on the troubled teen industry and addiction. Wish that the writing had been of a bit higher caliber though.

This definitely wasn’t what I expected. It read a lot like fiction, especially when Leach depicts interactions and the daily lives these three girls had. There were definitely some horrifying accounts of what goes on at some of these facilities, but it always seemed like they were happening to other kids and not “The Elissas.”

Don’t get me wrong, the stories of these girls are tragic. Most of all being Alissa’s. But this was not the tell-all exposé on the industry that I thought it would be.
