3.75

An iffy 3.5 for me.

This might be my least favorite book I’ve read from this author. The characters were unlikeable.

1.5 ; maybe that’s a harsh rating but … i felt nothing for the characters, the romance… NOTHING. a snooze fest. the south carolina jumpscare at the end though. IDK glad i didn’t pay full price.

It was good, definitely doesn’t hold a candle to her other books I’ve read though.

Well rounded characters and a well paced, well thought out plot full of emotion.

2.5 stars.

...what did i just read?

i'll start this off by saying instalove is one of my most detested tropes, and yet somehow i didn't hate it as much as i usually do reading this (at least, at first.) the whirlwind of a first love on vacation when you're 18 actually made a lot of sense, and then subsequent betrayal by said love really got me interested in where the story would go. what i simply couldn't believe though was that both the main character and the love interest were still in love with each other after not speaking for fourteen years. i'm sorry, but if an ex-lover of mine betrayed me and sold me out to the press for money (no matter how "noble" a reason), i wouldn't jump back into his arms the minute he apologizes and explains.

also, is anyone else creeped out at sam holding a flame for tate even when he was MARRIED? it squicked me out so badly, like ew, no thanks. and the way they just decide 'the past is the past!' and start banging again even though for over half the book tate is so bitter about what happened is just ??? what are we doing lads.

i will give credit where it's due, the storyline between tate and ian was the most interesting part of this book, i just wish there was more closure at the end of the story instead of just ending it in the middle of all the chaos.

ANYWAY this was not it, and i'm beginning to suspect i'm just not a christina lauren girlie.

It was a good read but not my favorite Christina Lauren book. I didn’t really love the explanation for the main conflict.
