Great read for women in corporate environments and academia. These 12 habits cover common psychological tendencies in women (Jean Baker Miller’s Toward A New Psychology Of Women covers much of this) and how they manifest in the workplace. Sally Helgelsen discusses the ways these can benefit us and hold us back and gives some practical advice on how to overcome the drawbacks. A good read and a nice exercise in self reflection. I don’t usually like self-help books of this nature but there’s enough academic context to support her suggestions that it doesn’t feel like a “boss babe guidebook”.  I now follow Sally’s work on LinkedIn and other platforms, highly recommend that!!

A self-help book that feels more like a personalized coaching session! Lots of actionable feedback specifically for women in the workforce.

Helpful advice on what behaviors women engage in that can hold them back. Not all will apply to all women - a few really resonated with me. This lays out in a fair way relatively easy ways to change your behavior or approach to help advance your career.

In an ideal world women wouldn't have to be more like men to advance their careers but we are far from being there. In the meantime let's not let anything hold us back if it's something we can work on changing.
