This is such an interesting book with so many emotions. Also makes me feel like I need to appreciate my own mother more.

I love women!

3/5 ⭐️

The story focuses on four Chinese-American immigrant families in San Francisco, and touches on complex relationships between their mothers and daughters.

I was a bit let down and often confused as to how the stories connected as each chapter came across as short stories. I had a difficult time connecting each mother to their daughter and vice versa.

I could relate to some of their painful stories, their upbringing and the generational gap that existed between mother and daughter. But for me I think the choppy-ness of the stories bothered me the most and couldn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to.
