Really enjoyed the reflections on cycles of love, hope and trauma in each vignette, not quite what I expected but I think the vignette/short story feel added to the idea of an interconnected family history.

One of the best feelings is dusting off an old book, rereading it and realising you still love it all the same

I first read the joy luck club when I was 14, and would spend the next 2 years analysing it in literature class. I’m turning 20 soon, and this book still makes me feel such bittersweet joy. It was so incredibly nice it was to see each mother-daughter pair finally understand each other after so many years, and how, at the end of the day, their mothers’ love would surpass all else

Such a sweet book please read it

One for my StoryGraph challenges, something I’ve not read before. Having a difficult relationship with my mother, this was hard at times but I liked the ending.

I have read this book before & wanted to come back.  Mother/daughter relationships and cultural variances are well represented.

4.5/5- a little hard for me to follow, but that could be because I can't read. Loved the differences and representation, reminded me of The House On Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros.
