rating may change but imo you gotta read this quickly. soak up the story obviously but i took a break before starting part 3 bc i was reading a different book and that definitely harmed the experience i still really enjoyed it. reminded me of everything everywhere all at once when it comes to the inherent distance that comes between mothers and daughters when one is a first generation immigrant and the other a second generation immigrant, but the comparisons stop there. this is way more focused on interpersonal relationships and culture rather than philosophical ideas the way eeaao is. this read like a short story collection to me and most of them were great but some were just alright to me. there's clearly a bigger picture here with it all but i cant think of it right now i may or may not come back when my thoughts are in order
