A satisfying conclusion to The Selection series but it still fell short on a few things for me. The writing style was not as magical as I remembered and some conversations felt awkward or forced. Most happenings were predictable except for the fact that
YOU'RE A PSYCHIC IF YOU SAW THAT COMING. seemed rushed and so did the last few chapters. I wish Kiera Cass wrote a few more chapters in this book or even in The Heir to build up the events and justify some outcomes of the story instead of pouring them down all at once. Although I still loved the ever-present humor, cutesy feel of Kiera Cass's stories and the easiness of the book. The Crown is a very light and quick read in my opinion. It's just a few very fast-paced pages after all.
I don't know if The Selection series has finally lost its charm or this one just didn't do it for me. I'd only recommend reading this for closure on what happens to America and Eadlyn.

I absolutely loved this book! While this book has many flaws, I don't care, this series has become one of my all time favorites. In the end Eadlyn chose exactly who I wanted her too. While I will always love the originally trilogy more, this addition to the series is just as good.

I... honestly what the fuck.
This review will be called "Serena says goodbye to the selection series again. This time she did not cry because she was way beyond that".
The first thing we know is that America is okay and I was so relieved. Once it had passed it seemed obvious that Kiera wouldn't have killed her, not ever. But when I was reading it was so real and it brings me to me second point:
I. fucking. love. Eadlyn.
I understand her. I agree with her. Every decision she took got me like YES TELL 'EM GIRL!!! She is such a capable leader. She's loving. She's kind. She's strong. She's unforgiving. She's sassy and witty and clever and compassionate, and I've loved every part of her. She helped me in so many ways I can't even begin to name them. She loves her parents and her brothers and her boys and Neena and Brice so much, and she'd do anything for them. She made me laugh a lot. Sometimes I wished I was a bit more like her. Her character has hit home to me because I can reflect myself in her, and everytime people say something bad about Eadlyn I'm a little more proud of her. It's been a while since I've loved a character this much.
I like Kaden and I like Osten, but Ahren... he should've called. I feel like he ran away from Eadlyn, like he went to France and once he was there he didn't bother to know anything about his family until he had to.
I love seeing our old friends America and Maxon and Aspen and Lucy and Marlee and May!!!!! I'm so glad America got to keep her best friends this close for so many years. As Eadlyn said, I hope the women's room doesn't stay empty for long after they part ways.
I LOVED THE BOYS SO MUCH IT HURT. I DIDN'T WANT ANY OF THEM TO WIN BECAUSE I KNEW THE CASTLE WOULD FEEL INFINITELY LONELY WITHOUT THEM. I loved Fox and his history and his dad. I loved Ean, because he was an underdog like me. I loved Hale and his ability to make friends with anyone, but specially with Eadlyn. I loved Kile because he is so chill and Eadlyn found it so easy to talk to him about important stuff. And I loved, loved, loved Henri and his infinite happiness and how much effort he put into english.

Oh, I didn't see Marid coming.
I didn't see Josie coming either, and I find her development to be too fast, too spontaneous. She could've used a little more time.
And what comes in the next paragraph, if you're still reading this even though you haven't read the book yet, is a complete spoiler. I'm going to specify: I'm going to tell you all about Eadlyn's final Selection decision. I'm doing it. Go away. I'm doing it right now.
This is literally the only time I've been completely against Eadlyn. It was awful. They were best friends and all of a sudden they were kissing. I could see Erik falling in love with Eadlyn, but not the other way around. Never the other way around. I didn't like reading it. I have to admit that one of the reasons was because I pictured Erik as being WAY OLDER than the selected boys (I'm talking about mid-30s), but I also thought his relationship with Eadlyn wasn't that deep. I hated it, and I doubt my opinion will change. I really don't appreciate how they built Henri's hopes up and then made him beg them to marry each other because he had no other choice, he would have to live knowing he stole his best friend's girl, knowing the girl he loves doesn't love him back, and it would kill him. It was a coward's plan, and I'm sorry for my boy Henri.
Kile ended where he needed to. I'm really happy for him, even though I kind of wanted him to marry Eadlyn.
Brice came out of nowhere and I'm glad she did. I liked it. She's going to be Prime Minister and she's going to be the (not literal) queen. I really like her.
I hope Neena can have her boy nearer.
I hope Ahren is happy.
I hope Kaden and Osten grow up and have happy lives. I hope Lucy and Aspen can go through their problems. I hope America and Marlee and Lucy stay friends for a long, long time.
I just really want them all to do good in life. This book hit home to me.

I knew that she was going to choose Erik because I spoiled it for myself in google but I love this book but the ending was fast and hasting which is the reason I give it a four instead of a five. Eadlyn changed for the better over her selection. I for one personally think her selection process changed her for the better. I also realized that Eadlyn’s brother Ahren mother-in-law is Maxins ex girlfriend/fling. Weird and odd. I wonder if they managed to fave it like grownups.

I cannot say that Eadlyn doesn't act like a spoiled princess because she does. She's lived a privileged life and this book helped her to see more of her people's options. I really enjoyed this book but the ending got too close for comfort on not ending well. I'm glad that she found love and thank goodness Henri is observant. On the topic of who she fell in love with... I did not see that coming! It honestly kind of bugs me because there isn't much build up. I understand that love has weird ways of springing up on people but it was really sudden. This series was a wonderful adventure and I'm glad we got to see the side of the selector.
