A fun read
This is not my usual genre and was a refreshing and fun read from my usual crime/suspense books. It definitely reminded me of the movie “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”.
It was totally predictable but yet I still found myself wanting to pick it up and read any spare chance I had.

Such a cute storyline. Definitely took me back in time. The days of watching 13 Going On 30. Need something light and upbeat? Choose this one!
Utterly charming and adorable, this YA Amy Lea is the perfect time travel romance trope of enemies to lovers. Picture perfect, type A Charlotte Wu has her entire life planned out to a T days before prom and graduation. The only thing that stands in her way is easygoing golden retriever senior president JT Renner who has been her nemesis since he ditched her as her homecoming date freshman year. When they are paired together to decorate for prom and they collide literally on a step ladder, they both wake up as 30 year olds inexplicably engaged to be married, 13 Going on 30 style. I love a time travel tryst, and JT was such a good foil to Charlotte’s uppity behaviors. I adored their small town and the high school setting (they end up as guidance counselor and gym teacher at their Alma Mater!). This one is such a delight to read.
Such a cute little rom com. Definitely gave me 13 going on 30 vibes and I loved it!
I went into this one pretty blind as a buddy read with a group on IG and loved it.
I wasn’t sure about the YA aspect when I first started reading it but wanted to give it a try. I don’t typically read YA books because I can’t relate to many of the characters since they’re usually my daughter’s age. However, Char and JT are both pretty relatable, especially given their circumstances. I won’t go into detail because I don’t want to give anything away.
I loved the storyline. It made my 90’s heart happy. So many mentions that brought me right back to my younger years. The twist definitely caught my attention and made me want to keep flipping the pages to see what happened next. Definitely a book that can grab you! I imagine it’d be one that would help get you out of a slump, too.
The ending was beautiful. While I was reading it I wasn’t sure which “reality” I wanted them to have but I’m happy with the way it ended. I think all of my questions were answered and the timeline worked well.
Woke Up Like This would be a great books for teens to read to learn about many different experiences they could go through. From friendships to grief & loss it’s all in here.
I will definitely be checking out Amy’s other books. If you want something that’s cute, with LOL moments, and a happy ending check out Woke Up Like This!

The main character is the most obnoxious, annoying, stubborn, uptight stupid bitch ever. Even a swamp rock has better character development than her. I know she supposed to have 17 year old attitude but no one ever is so deranged of common sense than her. Hated her. She’s so unworthy of compassion.
And then there’s this short term TikTok trends mention - it gives me a major ick.
Everything else is fine I guess.

"For some reason, I always thought adults made decisions with purpose. That they knew what they were doing all the time. But maybe adults are just like teens, bumbling around aimlessly, unsure if they’ve gotten it right.”
Charlotte is preparing for the most important day of her life, senior prom, when an fall unexpected throws her in to the future. Suddenly she's 30 years old and married to her high school enemy and questioning everything she knows. This ya novel gave 13 going on 30 vibes and was very endearing and sweet. There are moments where I just wanted to yell at the main characters to just talk to each other instead of being moody teens but the author capatured that aspect so well. This made for a fun quick read
