17 going on 30 for two teens in this YA book by @amyleabooks
⏱️
Charlotte Wu is organized and goal-oriented to a fault. She has her whole life planned and the only thing that keeps it from being the best senior year ever is JT Renner. He’s been her nemesis ever since he stood her up for homecoming freshman year. The two argue over everything, but while they’re setting up for prom as president (Renner) and VP (Charlotte), they fall off a ladder and into the future where they’re 30 and engaged. The two can’t figure out how this happened, but the more time they spend together, the more they find out they have a lot in common and maybe could be more than enemies.

I did not plan to read this in one sitting and yet that’s exactly what happened! Wow! I adored this novel from beginning to end. It was cute, had the time travel trope which I love and the fact that they BOTH traveled was new and unique—not something I’ve seen before. Lots of teens and adults will love this one from publisher @mindykaling

CW: death of a parent, parental abandonment, death of a sibling (recounted), grief, divorce, toxic friendship, microaggressions

This might be my new favorite Amy Lea book (I’ve read them all at present). Gosh this was so incredibly CHARMING. It had 13 Going On 30 vibes but with a rivals to lovers angle. And BOTH of them end up in a different year together. I thought this was the perfect set up to bring out the FEELS and it delivered.

I loved the banter and snark. It’s that perfect balance of sass while also noticing the intense chemistry between Charlotte and Renner. I was obsessed with them from the get go.

There were also some great themes woven in too. I loved how Charlotte and Renner learned to look deeper and had more understanding towards each other and their situations. I loved them Charlotte learned what it meant to not be walked over by a friend and how to stand up for herself. I loved that this book brought such joy balanced with the heartache that life can be.

This is a charming delight.

Overall audience notes:
- Contemporary Romance
- Language: low
- Romance: Kisses; low innuendo
- Content Warnings: mentions of divorce, loss of a parent

Well, this book was great to the point where it put me out of my reading slump. I love love loved the premise of the novel, the time travel and prom and all. The story of Renner and Charlotte was so so cute. It was amazing how her rival ended up being her fiancé 13 years in the future. Talk about twist of events!

I just wished they stayed a little longer in their 30 year old selves and had more adventure. All in all, I definitely picked the right book to buddy read with my friends. I would recommend this a 100%, it already makes me miss high school. 💜⏳️🏫

I really liked this! This is a really cute YA romance, a lot of references to what’s current now, but done in a way that felt seamless rather than cringey. I loved the relationship between Charlotte and Renner, nothing felt rushed as can easily happen with an enemies to lovers. I think the story had good pacing, short chapters and enough of both the present and the jump forward. The travelling in time aspect isn’t overly explained, but that’s okay, I love that concept in stories. I think Charlotte and Renner had great banter and chemistry, and I highly recommend
lighthearted fast-paced

Sometimes YA fiction can appeal to all ages, and sometimes it's just meant for young adults - this was in the latter category.  It was cute, but it was also silly and angsty, and the main character was annoyingly over-the-top stubborn.  I was personally appalled by the casual references to driving unsafely - 'lightly grazing' a pregnant woman while parking a car, attempting to drive a futuristic car while not understanding how it works, and don't get me started on 'car hide-and-seek'.  I can't laugh at unsafe driving, nor will I ever find it a 'quirky' aspect of someone's personality.  (Canada Reads 2024 longlist)

This is a 3.5 stars. It was very cheesy but also cute and had some good classic lessons and whatnot. Probably not the best Amazon first read ever, but it was a nice lighthearted situation
