This blend of fiction and history kept me engrossed; it reminds me of some of my favorite books that mix actual events and people from history into a mystery novel format. The three main characters are complex and interesting; I am left with as many questions about them in the end as I started with.Sonia Gensler is an author I will follow for more great reading!

Set in Cambridge, England in the early 1900s. Spiritualism, mediums, con artists, murder.

The author could have written the last half of the book only, and I would have been content. However, I as many others had to start and suffer at the beginning. The characters changed so much throughout the book it’s as though they are completely different people by the end. The book continues to leave readers with so many unanswered questions.

Kate was the best character in my opinion. Asher was ok and so was Elsie. The story was the best when they were all together. The mystery wasn’t so vague, I was able to figure it out before the end. It wasn’t a bad story, but I felt like I was forcing myself through it so I could be done. Disliked the very end. Elsie should e told the truth to her friends.

The last 50 pg was a HUGE let down. The characters seemed to completely change who they were. Not to mention there seems to be a lot of loss ends and there should be more to the book....

This book was not really my cup of tea, but I can see the delights of it through the amazing writing and the creepy story line. Brilliant if you like this sort of thing.
