the point of this book is that 1)kevin fagan is a good guy and 2)homelessness could be solved if families cared more

This is a book about homelessness in the US andvitvfocuses on the stories of two people the author (a print journalist) met and became acquainted with. The author, who early in his life was unhoused, has decades of reporting on this topic. This book investigates with clear eyes, how our country has failed so many people through lack of affordable housing and universal healthcare . My one criticism is that the author blurs the line sometimes between journalistic objectivity and personal involvement in his subjects’ lives.

Need to get a deeper understanding of the streets of SF and addiction in the US? Fagan’s great. Of course no easy answers but lots of compassion and clarity.
