I swear that The Chorus of Dragons series gets better with each book. I have such mixed feelings about finishing up "The House of Always", which is book four of the series. On the one hand this was a fantastic read, but on the other it means that there is only one more book left and I'm not ready to leave this world yet.
I had such a hard time trying to write a spoiler free review for this book since it is the fourth in the series. I feel like the entire series has been building up to this moment and the outcome did not disappoint.
I will say that Jenn Lyons still has lots of surprises up her sleeve for the reader. After the last book I thought that she was going to follow the George RRR Martin route and start killing off the main characters, but now I'm not so sure. I'm such a sucker for a happy ending though that I really hope that all the main characters make it and ride off into the sunset so to speak.
In terms of the characters themselves, I continue to enjoy getting to know them and uncovering their secrets. Being a fan of the idea of soulmates and reincarnation I've also really enjoyed finding out more about the main characters past lives and the ties that bind them together.
I also love the romance aspect of the story and how well done it was. You'd think that with an epic fantasy like this there would be no room for romance, but Jenn Lyons managed to develop the individual love stories so organically. This is also probably the only series I've read where I found myself invested in all the couples and not just one or two.
I could probably go on and on for hours about "The House of Always" and the Chorus of Dragons series. It is definitely a 5 out of 5 read for me. If you enjoy epic fantasy then you will love this book and this series.

Non-Spoiler Series Review: https://youtu.be/RylL5ESRb54
In a series where I give every book 5 stars, this is probably my least favorite. The only reason I say that is because I was not prepared for the main focus of the story to be in getting me to know the larger supporting cast of characters. I think on re-read that complain won't even bother me since I will be prepared to focus less on my favorite trio. I do like how claustrophobic this one felt because of its premise and setting and loved some of the new editions we got to meet in this one.

Ooooh boy do I have some issues with this.
Mild spoilers below, here’s your warning.
This book felt almost entirely unnecessary. Except for the very end.
It’s entirely character relationship focused for 90% of the book, and I just was not here for it, which is surprising because I mainly read this series FOR the characters.
There’s also a scene of SA that is very quickly brushed over, which was a red flag for me.
I didn’t think we needed to make Janel pregnant, and was honestly shocked that Lyons made the choice to have this overall “progressive” series play the youngest-female-gets-preggo card. It just didn’t sit well imo.
All of the sexual tension/scenes happened seemingly in the midst of battle or while they are trying to fix a world ending problem which….. not really the time guys? Ya know?
The ending was fine, but it truly could have been 3 chapters at the beginning of this book, and then we could’ve continued with PLOT. But we didn’t.
This series has sadly slowly gone downhill for me, which makes me very worried about reading the finale, but I will if only for Kihrin. Super bummed. Was hoping it’s be an all time fav series for me but /:
