I was clearly expecting something different from this book. I was expecting to read about the soul of money. I was expecting to read more stories about how to use money to do good. Not about the politics of money. Not about the atrocities that people commit to get money (with all the details proper to cheap tabloids!). I already know all that, I wasn't born yesterday. I'm 10 chapters in and I can't even listen to this book anymore.
The "nuggets of wisdom" are pretty obvious, they might appeal as revelations to those who have been selling their souls for money and never stopped to think about it, but they are pretty basic for those who don't live in the constant chase for more.
Overall, I find the tone of this book very negative and patronising. If you want to be disgusted by having money, read this book. If you want to know how to make your money do good things for yourself and others - choose something better.

A meh book. Enjoyed the stress on being ethical with your money, but it kept reading with privileged vibes. Favorite statement from the entire book,
"The 'starving artist' life sentence has us accept that creativity is undervalued in our society. It suggests that those who rely on creative gifts to make a living can expect to be poorly paid, and the rest of us are entitled to exploit them or short change them in money terms, and undervalue them in human terms."

Not surprising, but enlightening, and so well communicated. One to recommend for sure. Glad Leigh recommended it to me!

This book made me rethink a lot about scarcity mentality and how it affects our daily decisions and approaches. I will turn back to this book often when I need the reminders. There are some powerful stories in this book that challenge us, regardless of our current financial situation.
This was my book of the year. One of those that has wound its way between the roots of my life, changing how I grow long after the pages have been turned.
I sought out this book because I wanted to address my 'relationship' with money. Loved it! Its exactly what I needed to read and believe that Twist's call to move from an attitude of scarcity to one of sufficiency is the answer for much of what ails the world. Every day we are bombarded with messages that say we don't have enough and we need this or that to feel fulfilled. Twist utilizes her decades of philanthropy experience and reorients the reader to think that no matter how little or much we have, if we become more intentional we will be more satisfied. I agree wholeheartedly.
I LOVE this book! I got it from the library with the recommendation of my business coach and I love it. I've since recommended it to everyone who might have an interest in making money in a way that is positive, filled with light and purpose.
I've heard a lot of people complain that charging feels wrong in their spiritual or pastoral work, and this is a great book to show us all that there is another way to think about money.
This book presents another side, another vibe around money and the author is an amazing humanitarian. You gotta read this.

So many gems and amazing stories shared. Lots of highlights, digests and tags. I am excited most to live in the state of sufficiency on all front.
