Holy shit do not read this book in public unless u want to publicly and audibly cry. Gibsie went through so much internal stress and change and I cannot believe how brave he was after losing his dad and sister AND the whole fuck ass hoe mark situations yet he still managed to live his life even with all of those things working against him
Graphic: Rape, Sexual assault, Sexual violence
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship, Death, Death of parent
Minor: Panic attacks/disorders
MAJOR SPOILER BUT IT IS ABOUT THE TOPIC OF RAPE THAT I FEEL IS AN IMPORTANT TRIGGER THAT I NEED TO ADD DETAIL TO : it is rape of a child under 12 for multiple years on end, and then is the main plot point of the book with lots of detail and flashbacks to this

“You make me feel like it’s possible,” I heard myself tell her, as our bodies continued to move in perfect rhythm. “Hm?”. “Like what’s possible?” “Like everything is going to be okay again.” “Like I’m going to be okay.”
Yesterday I finished Taming 7, and I’m still not over it.

Ever since Keeping 13, Gibsie has been one of my favorite characters. He’s known for his humor and bubbly energy, the class clown, so you’d expect his book to be lighthearted and funny. But it’s definitely not.
Throughout the story, we get glimpses of his pain, and eventually we learn about his deepest trauma. It becomes clear that he has mastered the art of hiding behind a smile and his life motto, “I’m okay.” And it left me with a broken heart for him.
I loved his friendship with Claire, his childhood best friend, his “Claire-Bear”, she is the harbor in his life and the one person who understands him in a way no one else can.
5⭐️

I’m obsessed with the characters in this series. I am loving seeing everyone continue to grow and develop, but this wasn’t as well-written or well-paced as the others. I am still majorly sold on the story and can’t wait to see what happens next.
