Fun book. The characters were okay. Not great, but fine for me. The story was fine, too. The sci-fi time-dilation and changing societies are what kept me hooked.

How do soldiers assimilate into a society that has changed in their absence?

Inspired by the authors own experience as a drafted soldier in the Vietnam war, the Forever War is 1/3rd pew pew the aliens and 2/3rds surprisingly accurate commentary of societal changes and the difficulty of returning to a home that is no longer home.

Engaging and thought provoking. This book is a classic of science fiction for a reason.

Boeing does not explain much, hard to follow. Definitely not reading the rest of series, waste of time

Solid story. I can see why it's regarded as a classic, putting it in the context in which it was written. Not one I'll feel the need to read again, but it has some fascinating ideas and was well executed.
