It's outdated, the trade has moved on to fentanyl and other drugs. While informative, it became very repetitive very quickly. Was reading for a work function, had someone summarize the book for me.

I was super excited to read this book because the topic of the opioid crisis in america is so interesting to me. I’ve watched almost every docuseries or show on the topic. However, this book was extremely disappointing. Took me about a month to get halfway through and I couldn’t bring myself to finish. Almost every chapter is the same story being told over and over and there’s not much of a plot. It also jumps around a ton between Mexico, Ohio, etc and it’s hard to keep up. Would love recommendations for other books on this topic if anyone has any!

DNF about 150 pages in — but maybe I’ll try again someday. Not the most well-written, informative, or empathetic take on the US’ problem with drugs.
Graphic: Drug abuse, Drug use
An excellent read that is mesmerizing yet utterly distressing. It provided so much insight into a world that that is often invisible to me until I encounter patients and/or family affected by this crisis. Definitely recommend reading this!
