I loved that the MC had a such a strong voice and personality. His antics and thought processes were quite funny.

I’ll be honest, I decided to pick up this book after searching up the Harry Trevaldwyn on Instagram after watching the live action How to Train Your Dragon. I fell in love with him on the big screen, fell in love again on social media, then fell overboard when I saw he wrote a queer book and knew I needed to listen to it immediately, ESPECIALLY because he narrated it.

Thank you for blessing my ears, Harry Trevaldwyn

This is genuinely one of the FUNNIEST books I've read in a long time. I listened to the audiobook (which is also narrated by the author!) and at multiple points throughout I was audibly laughing / giggling while walking around on the street or waiting for the bus. And I was also probably grinning like an idiot for majority of the time I was listening to this.

But the audiobook was really great! And something about it being read by the author just makes it extra special. But I would recommend listening to it in the privacy of your own home unless you don't mind laughing at nothing in public like a lunatic 🙂

Okay now on to my thoughts about the actual book:

I really liked Patch. He's so flawed but also just hilarious and energetic and so entertaining. He feels like a genuinely real person and that made me love this story even more. There were some amazing depictions of friendships, sibling relationships and even romantic relationships (even though those obviously were dramaticised and followed more of a cliche YA romance storyline).

Both the boys he's interested in liking him in the end felt like a bit too much for me. To me that just made it feel a bit cheaper and more like a fantasy than a real story but that's the only thing that bothered me in this book.

There were also a few instance of me feeling second hand embarrassed because of Patch but those things were usually resoved without getting to the worst case scenario and they weren't dragged out too much so I can get over it. It also helped make it feel like the story of a genuinely weird teenager which is on theme.

All in all I would 100% recommend this book to people! I might even reread it myself I had such a good time with it!
