When I started reading this, I didn't realize it was nonfiction for a while and was a bit put off by the writing. Having realized it was nonfiction, I still didn't really enjoy the writing style, however. The horse bits were interesting, but while I see why the authors made the connections to her personal life that she did, I'm not sure it was as relevant for the reader to read as it was for her to think things through this way.

A client asked me to read this because she felt connected to the author. I'm not a horse lover so I didn't really get into the book. I can see how it would be helpful to get your story out...

I cried so hard at the end of this book. Lovely, enlightening relationship between a sad, lonely woman and the abused horse she rescues from the SPCA. I am a full-on sappy animal lover and I recommend this book to the same.

Chosen by a Horse was a sodden, sentimental, dreary, shallow thing which somehow became a bestseller. Then again, I suppose those adjectives could be applied to many bestsellers. Ugh. My coworkers are very sweet and often lend me books. Sometimes, they're fantastic. Other times...less so. Yet I always feel compelled to read them all the way through! Why, why??

First part was good , great even.
But then it became a battle of sheer will to get through it.
