This book was an okay read for me. It was kind of boring for the most part. There would be small parts where it peaked my interest but those parts were quickly addressed and I went back to being bored. I think the writing was wonderful and the characters were easy to follow. I think the story just lacked some excitement.

This novel has me a little torn. I liked it. I did. But it just seemed a little familiar. The ol' daughter-in-law and mother-in-law conflict mixed with the feeling that perhaps the mother-in-law is a little bit evil, perhaps a bit two-faced. There was even the mention of the mother-in-law claiming cancer. Have you read The Other Woman? This happened with that evil mother-in-law too. But in this case, is the claim true or false? Is the mother-in-law truly against the daughter-in-law or is she just misunderstood? This is the real question of this Hepworth novel. And one I wanted the answer to enough to keep reading. The pages turned quickly with the easy-reading style of writing and I felt pleased upon the conclusion, even if I didn't have that 'please don't end' feeling.

3.5 stars. At first I thought I had it all figured out and I was pretty sure what had happened, but closer to the end it started to twist and while I had an idea it was still enjoyable. Lucy is very relatable and she wants you to relate to her and not Diana. But at the end you love them both.

A murder mystery that tells a story about the messiness of a woman's relationship with her mother-in-law. A good read!
