- This was a great adaptation of the book. It has been a while since I read this, but from what I remember the story was very accurate.
- I loved the illustrations! The style was perfect for the story. I felt like there was a little Tim Burton influence in certain characters and scenery.
- Reading this made me want to read the book again. It is such a classic tale that just never gets old!

Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht mehr wo ich es mal gekauft habe, aber ich denke es war bei Rebuy oder Medimops. Den Originalpreis von 29,99 $ habe ich aber nicht bezahlt. Die Aufmachung wäre es aber tatsächlich wert gewesen. Das Buch ist ein Hardcover, dass nicht nur einen wunderschön illustrierten Umschlag hat, sondern auch darunter richtig edel aussieht. Es ist weiß und hat eine grün schimmernde Schrift. Wirklich hochwertig. Auch die Seiten der Graphic Novel sind angenehm dick und hochglanz.
Der Zeichenstil ist unglaublich schön und passt zu der Geschichte. Er ist genau so wie es auf dem Cover zu sehen ist und das ist ja leider bei Comics und GraphicNovels nicht immer der Fall. Hier weiß man aber was man bekommt. Die einzelnen Szenen sind herrlich atmosphärisch und abwechslungsreich. Die Farben sind unglaublich lebendig. Nahaufnahmen, Langdschaften, dynamische Szenen halten sich hier in einem sehr angenehmen Gleichgewicht.
Die Story ist wohl den meisten Lesern bekannt, obwohl ich sie ehrlich gesagt etwas anders in Erinnerung hatte, vor allem was den moralischen Aspekt betrifft. Den hatte ich eigentlich für mich stimmiger in Erinnerung oder ich habe mir das als Kind einfach anders in Erinnerung behalten. Trotzdem gefiel mir auch hier die Story, nur war das ganze Herz, Gehirn, Mut und Freundschafts-Ding hier einfach nicht ganz so gut erklärt wie ich es in Erinnerung hatte.
Die Figuren waren sehr fantasievoll und sympathisch und ich habe diese Reise wirklich genossen. Es soll wohl auch einen zweiten Teil davon geben. Mal schauen, ob man den für einen annehmbaren Preis bekommt.

A truly charming adaptation, which will hopefully bring L. Frank Baum's Oz stories to a new generation. The dialogue is a little stiff at times, but this reflects the faithfulness of Shanower's adaptation more than anything, and it never really distracts, since Scottie Young's art is utterly spellbinding. Also major props to the colorist who does an extraordinary job. I can't wait to read the next one!

I absolutely loved the graphics in this book, but I felt the diagolue was a bit forced. It was awkward and at times took away from the awesome imagery. I did like that this version of The Wizard of Oz followed L. Frank Baum's version and not the movie. I can see many children reading this and being surprised by how the story flows. I think this is a great way to reintroduce a classic to children that don't want to take the time to read the true story (BUT they really should read the original before reading this).

The story is one we all know, but the art! Skotty Young did such an amazing job with these characters. I am obsessed with the Tin Man's mustache. The art choices were so delightful, I could see myself reading this over and over just for that.
