Wow. Just wow. I found my new favorite book. I went into this book with a small understanding of what it’s about, and it completely blew me away. I’ve never read any Ali Hazelwood books, so I had zero expectations. 10/10 I definitely recommend!

Agghhhh I loved this book! The grumpy MMC paired with the snarky, sarcastic MFC was everything. Misery was such a standout. Her attitude toward life and others, especially after everything she was put through and the purpose she served to others, was commendable. She never let it drag her down and always spoke her mind. I know a lot of that was her defense mechanism, but seeing her find real love—not just from her “mate,” but also from an entirely different species accepting her (even if some did it reluctantly)—was so satisfying. She truly deserved that. And honestly, Lowe deserved her too.

Misery’s life was completely messed up, to say the least. The Vampyre customs and traditions were just… ick. All of it just to cling to power, when really they were the weakest of all. I loved that twist, since vampires are usually portrayed as the strongest, fastest, and smartest. Their competitiveness with their sworn enemies, the werewolves, made everything even better. And because I love both vampires and werewolves, this book had me hooked until 3 a.m.

I’ve read Ali Hazelwood’s Deep End before and enjoyed it too. Her exploration into the smuttier side of romance is definitely entertaining, and she does it so well. I’ll absolutely be checking out more of her books—and it seems like Bride might even have a part two 😜

Honestly, this would have been a 5 star read for me, but it really felt like a gateway drug into furry fanfic and if I think too long on that I feel icky.

Fantastic job by Hazelwood, though. Solid, solid book.
