I was very excited to get my hands on this and hopefully dig deeper, getting more context to elements from the movie, and it delivered. I also really enjoyed that the ship's computers had personality to them, which gives new context to parts of the saga, and really shaped how I saw the ending of Solo later on.

RIP Black One

Also, Jason Fry is awesome and I can't wait to get more SW books from him.

An excellent novelization. The prose is lovely without being pretentious or getting in the way of the story. It increased my appreciation of the movie.
fast-paced

About as unmemorable as the film itself. I was hoping the expanded edition would offer insight into the mindset of some asinine decisions, but it really doesn’t. Doesn’t explore really anything on a deeper level.

So many extra details that give answers to the hidden context of body language. I was able to support so many theories in this and I can not wait for episode IX to release in another year and a half. Just I need Reylo to be end game, like complete end game. Because in this book you can tell Finn and Poe don’t have that romantic undertone that these two have. Oh lord, I hope there isn’t too big of a year gap!

Despite the HORRENDOUS amount of typos in this (from missing punctuation, to spelling errors, I even found an entire paragraph repeated on two pages), it was fun to read. I definitely enjoyed it more than the movie, because the movie took out just about every character building/developmental scene to make room for the action, and this book helped us actually connect with the characters emotions.

I was surprised (happily-ish) that there were so few sections from Kylo and Rey's point of views, as the movie, I felt, was clogged with with their stories, not allowing the other characters to have a turn to tell their own stories. I enjoyed all of the deleted scenes. To put it in perspective, I read about 60 pages into it before we reached the opening scene of the movie where Poe attacks the Supremacy above Crait.

That being said, the writing style was fantastic (much better than The Force Awakens novelization) and instead of just adding a bit of emotion and description to scenes like in TFA, Jason Fry actually wrote this as if it were a stand alone novel. The world was rich and vivid and developed, as were the characters. If it weren't for all the typos and errors, this would definitely have gotten a 4.5 stars.

a fun time, but i wish there was more rey. i always do. thanks for including the deleted scenes!
