carolinecherry's review against another edition
Bland advice mixed with ableism and other bigotry
Moderate: Religious bigotry, Fatphobia, Ableism, Xenophobia, and Islamophobia
thelizardqueen's review against another edition
medium-paced
This book could be extremely triggering for anyone with an eating disorder, especially those in the midst of recovery. The writing advice is continually interrupted by the author's cutsie fatshaming, disordered thinking on bodies and eating, overt sexism and overall presumptuous bigotry. She is such an abusive person, it's torture to get through the book. There are dozens and dozens of books about writing that manage to get the message across without hating or abusing anyone or fostering mental disorders. This book is not one of them.
Graphic: Body shaming, Sexism, Eating disorder, Mental illness, and Fatphobia
